Construction
Fiberglass hull laid up in a female mold by North End Marine with a fiberglass matrix of mat and roving and polyester resin. Airex core from turn of the bilge to just below the deck edge. Gelcoat topsides. The house and aft cabin trunk are custom fabricated welded aluminum bolted to fiberglass over plywood main deck which has a molded, non-skid pattern. Hull form has an elliptical horseshoe stern with a well deck forward of the wheelhouse and focsile head over the forward cabin. Hydraulic wheel steering to stainless rudder shaft and welded steel hollow rudder. Endurance is fitted with bulwarks with welded pipe railings. Green topsides with white boot top and white bulwarks and the house is a grey deck and red bottom. There is no exterior wood trim.
Accomodations
Sleeps four in two private staterooms. Forward in the fo'c'sle, cabin is a double berth and an enclosed head with shower aft to starboard. The forward cabin is accessible by its own companionway in the well deck forward. There is also access from the engine room. Headroom in the fo'c'sle is 6'4".
Aft from the forward cabin is a full width engine room which is very spacious and the vessel's largest compartment. Working around in the engine room for even a guy my size at 6'4" is wonderful. Great access to the Gardner diesel, Northern Lights generator and the vessel's systems.
The aft cabin (owners' stateroom) is aft of the engine room and was totally rebuilt in 1995. The cabin is now the full width of the vessel with great headroom, port and starboard, generous single berths. Four large port lights and an opening hatch centerline aft. The cabin is beautifully finished with white bulkheads and high gloss varnished mahogany trim, drawer and cabinet faces, bureaus, etc. A true Herreshoff style interior.
There are sixteen drawers, hanging locker and cabinets to store an abundance of clothes and gear. Centerline aft, facing forward, is a comfortable, built in settee with a centerline pull down table. A wonderful place to sit and read with a cup of coffee or your favorite beverage. Access to the cabin is via stairs from the wheelhouse.
The raised wheelhouse has doors port and starboard with a raised bench settee aft and a Todd pedestal helm seat, which can also be used as a single berth, and has a drop leaf table mounted on two stanchions just forward of the berth. The electrical panel is aft and the helm station is forward on centerline with nav area to starboard and instruments displayed across the upward forward edge of the wheelhouse and to starboard. To port is a small galley area with stainless sink and Force 10 two burner flush mounted propane stove. There is a folding center counter which can be lowered to cover the galley area and a Kenmore under counter refrigerator to starboard. Endurance is fitted with three zone hot water heat and is well ventilated with three hatches, seven opening ports, screens and 2 ventilators. The interior finish is white with blue trim.
